An Act to encourage the killing of Wolves in this State.
SHCTION.                        SECTION.
1. Premium for killing wo4. Penalty for toking wolf from trap.
2. Scalp o  exhibited to mIntrt. c 5. Form of certificate.
3. Wolft killed  by slave, master entitled
to premium.
Be it enacted by the Gene ral Assembly of the State of Arkansas,
That if any person shall kill any wolf, in any county in this state, after
the taking effect of this act, he shall be ctitled toi and receive, the
sum of three dollars for all such wolves, to be paio out of the county
treasury in which the said wolf or wolves shall havebeen killed.
SE~c..2. Be it further enacted, That any person killing a wolf or
wolves, ns aforesaid, shall exhibit the scalp or scalps, with both cars
of said wolfor wolvcs, to a magistrate of the county, within said county,
within thirty daj's after killing the same; and such magistrate shall
strictly examinc such person, on oath, or any other person, being a
competent witness, touching the time when, and place where, and
bow, suci scalp was obtained, and whether the wolf-or wolves to
which such scalp belonged, was taker and killed within the county;
and whcn such magistrate shall be satisfied -that the person exhibiting
said scalp or scalpsis entitled to the abovementioned premium or premi-
ums, he shall give cuch person a certificate on the county treasury, for
the same; and the said magistrate shall burn or otherwise destroy all
said scalps for which he has given a certificate.
SEc. 3. Anid be it further eliacted, That if any slave of any person
shall kill any wolf, it shall aini may be lawful ibr the master or em-
ployer of such slave, by exhibiting the scalp, and making proof before
a magistrate, agrceably to the provisions of this act, in that case, the
master or employer shall be' entitled to the premium, in the same
manner as if such wolf had been killed by such master or employer.
SEc. 4. Be it further enacted, That if any person shall take away
any wolf out of any pit or trap, made or set to chich the same, thereby
.to cheat or defraud the owper of such pit or trap of his premium, Fuch
person, taking away as aforesaid, shall forfeit and pit-y to the owner
of such pit or trap, the sum of four dollars for every wolf taken out as'
aforesaid, with costs'of suit, to be recovered before any justice of the.
peace of the proper county, by an action of debt; founded on this
statute.
SEa. 5. Be it further enacted, That the certificate to be given by
the magistrate, as near as circumstances will admit; shall be if the
form following, to wit: ' State of Arkansas, county of--
I, A; B., magistrate for the county aforesaid, do hereby certify, that
the sum of three dollars is due to C. D., as a premium for his killing
