the first class militia in their respective counties.
SEC. 2. Be it further pnacted, That upon natisfactory
Arms and am. information of the organization of. any one or more of
muntion.  said companies, the Governor of this State, be and he is
hereby authorized to furnish said company or companies,
with such arms and anmnunition as inny be necessary for
their defense.

No. 40.1            .AN ACT
To increase the fees of the Sheriff of Mobile Countr.
SECTION 1. Be i en(cleld by the Senate an(1186se of Rep.
resentatives of the State of Alabama in General Assembq
Fee rates.  convencd, That from and after the pansago of this act,
the sheriff of Mobile county shall bo' entitled to receive
two dollars and fifty cents per day for feeding each white
person imprisoved in the county jail,. and two dollars
and twenty-five tents per day for feeding each slave or
free person of color imprisoned in like manner, in lieu
of the compensation now allowed him   by law ; also,
that said sheriff shall be entitled to demand and receive,
unleage.  instead of the compensation now allowed him by law,
four dollars and fifty cents for every tvnty miles travel
of himself or deputies to and from the penitentiary, and
two dollars and fifty cents for every twenty miles travel
for each convict convoyed from the jail of said county
to the -State penitentiary. *
SEC. 2. Bo it further enacted, That this act shall re-
thisnaot. .main In force until the expiration of six monthis after
the ratification of a treaty of peace between the Con-
federate and the United States, ind no longer.
