Supplementary to An act' to provide for the Public
Safety.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Rep-
resentatives of the State of Alabama in General Assenibly ocer or  t
convened, That the officer or agent who shall take, im- to give recept.
press, or receive any slaves or other property under the
provisions of said act, shall give the owner or person in
possession of such property, a receipt therefor, describ-

. SEC. 2. Be it further enacted,' That all property taken ropert to be

shall be returned to the owner or person from whose
possession it was taken, at the expense of the State, as
soon as practicable after the necessity for its use for the
public defense shall cease.
