[No. 30.] AN ACT
To prevent the burning of forests worked for Tur-
pentine.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and owuve
of Representatives of the State of Alabama in Gene-
ral Assembly convened, That if any white person or
free person of color shall, after the passage of this
act, wilfully and maliciously kindle fire in any Firing woods
woods in this State, or cause the same to be done,
with intent to burn, injure or destroy any pine for-
est, which has been cut, boxed, used and not aban-
doned, for the purpose of collecting turpentine,
such person, or persons, shall be subject to indict-
ment, and upon conviction thereof being had in
the Circuit Court of the county in which said pinery
may be located, shall be imprispned, in the State Penaly.

years, or in the common jail ot' the county, at the
discretion of the jury trying the same, not to ex-
ceed twelve months, and be fined at the discretion
of the jury not less than one hundred dollars.
SEc. 2. And be it further enacted, That if any Relating to
