property and effects of said company, or any part thereof,
including subscriptions to the capital stock of the company;
and any pledge so made by said board of ditectors, whether
by resolution, or mortgage, or deed of trust, or other form
of contract, shall be valid and effectual to all intents and
purposes. All duties required by this act, or the act to which
this is an amendment, to be performed by a sheri(fl may be
performed by the deputy of such sheriff.

To incorporate the Creole Union Benevolent Society of the
city of Mobile.
Preamble. \Yhereas, a society has been formed ini the city of Mobile
under the name of  The Creolo Union Benevolent Society
of the city of Mobile, for the purpose of extending beney-
olence to the Crooles of the city of Mobile and their off-
spring who may be in distress, which laudable object it is
expedient to promote; therefore-
Corporation.  Suc. 1. He it enactedt by /h Semuin and HIou se of Rtepresen-
tatives ofthe State of .idaubma in General .'lsnibly convened,
That P. Gomnoz, jr., president, J. Joseph. 1st vice-presi-
dent, HI. Garretia, 2d vice-president, T. W. Bernard, sec-
retary, P. Laurendine, jr., treasu rer, and the members com-
posing the association aforesaid, and their syiccessors, are
hereby incorporated as a body politic and corpornte in deed
and in law by the name and style of 4' The Creole Union
Namen l  e  Benevolent Society of the city of Mobile, and by said
name and style shall be known and recognised as a body
corporate and shall have perpetual succession of oflicers
and members.

vi1rtlyn membeis of said corporation and their successors shall have
power to adopt, establish, ordain and make such rules, reg-
ulations, by-laws and ordinances, for the government of said
society, and of the olicers and members thereof, from time
to time as they shall think proper for the purpose of effect-
ing and promoting the objects for which the association
was fdrmed, and to alter the same at their pleasure ; and
shall and may have a common seal, which they may break
and alter at pleasure, and shall have all the necessary pow-
ers to carry the object of said corporation into ill effect:
