SEc. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Rep-
resentatives of the State of Alabama in General Assembly
convened, That the comptroller of public accounts be and *  appro

he is hereby authorised to draw his warrant on the treasu-
rer, in favor of the said Thos. L. McGowen, for the sum
of one hundred and twenty-five dollars and twenty cents
overpaid by him into the treasury as aforesaid.

For the relief of Alexander Wood, late tax collector of
Benton county.
8Ec. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of'Rep-
resentatives of the State of Alabama in General Assembly
convened, That.the comptroller of public accounts be and
he is hereby required to draw his warrant on the treasurer  ppod.
of this state.in favor of Alexander Wood, late tax collec-
tor ofBenton county, for the sum of one hundred and five
dollars and fifty-eight cents, to be paid out of any money
in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.

hereby authorised and required to issue his warrant on the' ed.
state treasurer for the sum of four hundred dollars, in favor
of Samuel W. McGehe;e , the owner of a certain slave
tried and executed in the county ofJackson for an attempt
to commit a rape on the person of Nancy G. Cloud, a
white female. the said slave being indicted under the name
of'Jim and his value being assessed by the jury at the sum
of eight hundred dollars: Provided. 'The said McGehee
shall first prove to the satisfaction of the comptroller that
he was the owner of' said slave at the time of his execu-
tion: And procided further, That sum be paid out of the
funds provided by law for the payment of such claims.
