To authorize Jack Demery, of the County of Montgomery,
to emancipate certain slaves therein named.
Sedtion 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of R.p.
resentatives of the State of Alabama in General .sseenbly
convened, That Jack Demery, of the County of Montgomery, Authber'd to

be. and he is hereby authorized, to enancipato and set free, a fe  an ave
male slave, named Eliza, and also three other slaves, viz: Fran-
.is Elizabeth, about five years of age, John, about.three years
of age, and Amanda Victoris, about two years of age, all the
-property of said Jack Demery.
Sec. 2. /Ind be it further enacted, That it shall only be
necessary for the said Jack Demery to file, in the office of the
Clerk of the County Court of Montgomery county, a de-Declaracon
claration in writing subscribed by him, and attested by two to be filed.

andi does thereby emancipate and set free said slaves, and from
and after the filing of said declaration,said slaves shall be wholly
and entirely free, and entitled to all the rights and privileges of
other free colored persuns: Provided, that nothing herein con-
tained, shall be so construed as to effect the right of credit-

See. 3. ./lad be itfurther enacted, That the Clerik of the
County 'Jourt of Montgonery county, bhall enter said cleclara-
tion upon the records of the Court, and also retain the original
declaration among the papers in his oflice.
