Extending to the County of St. Clair the provisions of certain
acts therein named.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Rep-
resentalivcs of the State of .2labama in General dssenoly
convened, That the provisions of an act entitled an act relative
to Justices Courts, and for other purposes, in certain counties
therein named, approved February fifth, one thousand eight hun-
dred and forty, and also the provisions of an act entitled an act to
establidh jury trials in Justices Courts in certain counlies in this
State and to regulate the proceedings therein, approved December
thirty-first, one thousand eight hundred and forly-one, be, and
the same are heeby extended to the County of St. Clair, and
said acts are to be in full force and effect in said County of §r.
Clair, from and after the first day of Marcha next.

T.- regulate the working of Roads in Baldwin County, in cer-
tain cases.
Wartnal.s, several citizens of ]3aldwin County, living upon
the Alabatna River, own a large mumber of slaves, in the forks
of the Tombigby and Alabama Rivers, in the Conuty of Clarke
and whereas, there are no public roads nearer than fifteen or
twenty miles in said County of Clarke, and thius the owners of
said slaves are exempt from doing their share of road duty;
and whereas, the roads in Hlaldwin inear which the owners re-
side, run through a sparsely settled country, and the duty of
-working is therefore, thrown upon a few; Therefore,
Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Rep-
resentatives of the State of  labama, in 'eneral Issetnbly
How rgulat. convencd, That the Commissioners of Roads and Revenue in
ed.       Baldwin County are hereby authorized and empowered in ap-
portioning hands upon the Road in said County upon which
the citizens of said County are now required to work, they
shall apportion on said Road, the slaves belonging to citi.-
zens in the same manner as is now prescribed by law, and as
if they resided in the County of Baldwin.
