JOINT RESOLUTION
For the relief of Lorenzo Walker, and his wife Pheraba, of Fayette
County.
WHEREAS, LoreGizo Walker, a free man of color, and his wife, Pher-
aba, who are both now, and for some years have been, citizens of the
county of Fayette, have been emancipated by their master, Robert
Logan, in due form of law ; and whereas, by their industry, persever-
ance, and general good deportment, the said Loreuzo Walker and his
wife Pheraba, have accumulated property in said county; and whereas,
the said Lorenzo, and his said wife, have ample testimonials of good
character: Therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate and House qf Representatives of the
State of alabama in General dssembly convened, That the said
Lorenzo Walker, and his said wife, in consideration of the premises,
bu, and they are hereby allowed and permitted, to remain in the said
county of Fayette, as if there were no law to the contrary : Provided,
The said Lorenzo Walker, and his said wife, give bond, with good and
suflicient security, to be approved by the Judge of the County Court of
said. county, in the suni of twelve hundred dollars, conditioned for their
good behaviour while residents in said county; and conditioned further,
that neither of them shall ever become a charge upon any town or
county in this State.

JOINT RESOLUTIONS
Of the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Alabama,
upon the subject of Postage.
WarlnAs, serious inconvenience has resulted to the citizens of this
State, from the existing rates of postage on letters; and -whereas, we
beiieve that the Post Office charges should be regulated by the untional
currency: Therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
State of dlabama in General assembly convened, That our Senators
in Congress be instructed, and our Representatives requested, to use
their best exertions to modify the present charges on letters, so as to
comport with our national currency.
Resolved further, That the Governor be requested to transmit a
copy of this preamble and joint resolutions to our Senators and Repre-
sentatives in Congress.
Approved, 15th December, 1843.
