To amend an Act entitled an Act regulating punishments under the Penitentiary
System.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and Hoiuse of Rep.
resentatives of the Slate of .tabama, in Gendral .desenzbly
convened, That the eightectith section of the fourth chapter of
the act named in the title hereof, be and the same is hereby re-
pealed.
See. 2. ./nd be it further enacted, That overy person who
shall inveigle, steal, carry, or entice away, as aforesaid, any
such slave, with a view to convert such slave to his own use,
or the use of any other person, or to enable such slave to reach
sonic other State or country, where such slave may enjoy free-
dom, such person shall, on conViction, be punished by confine-
ment in the penitentiary not less than ten years.

To authorize the Signing and Sealing of Bills of Exceptions, in Criminal Cases.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Rep-
resentatives of the State of d./labama, in General dssmbly
convened, That it shall and may be lawful for the Judges of the
Circuit Courts of this State, to sign and seal bills of exceptions
on the part of defendant or defendants, in criminal cases, wheth-
er capital or not, in the same manner, and under the same
liabilities, provided in civil cases: Provided, that this sta-
tute shall not be considered as 'applicable to cases of of-
fences not punishable by death or imprisonment in the peni-
tentiary.
Approved, 14th February, 1843.
