To incorporate the Town of Decatur, in the County of Morgan.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Represen-
latives of thi State of .dlabama, in General .Assembly convened, Incorporated.
That the town of Decatur in Morgan county be, and the same is
hereby incorporated.
Sec. 2. .dnd be itfurther enacted, That the corporate limits of
said town shall be as follows: Beginning at the Tennessee river, Limits
immediately opposite the Steam Factory, and extending toward
the bed of said river so as to include sixty yards of said river, from
low water mark; thence down the river, following the meanders
of the same, so as to preserve sixty yards of the same, to a point
immediately opposite the residence of Alexander Ross, so as to
include the same; thence to the rail road, so as to include the resi-
dence of James A. Patterson; thence to the residence of Henry
Bibb, including the residence of Simon B. Sykes and the resi-
dence of Henry Bibb, to the first point, so as not to include the
Steam Factory.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That on the first Monday in
March next, and on the first Monday in each and every March
thereafter, an election shall be held by ballot, for one Intendant Election.
and four Councilmen, who shall hold their office for the term of
one year, and until their successors in office shall be elected and,
qualified. The elections for said officers shall be holden in some
public and convenient place in said town; and all persons qualifi- Voers
ed to vote for justices of the peace, and who shall reside within
the corporate limits of said town, shall be entitled to vote. The
first election shall be conducted by Benry Bibb, A. A. McCartney,
William Jones, Archedemades Houk and William G. Stephenson,
any two of whom, being first qualified before some justice of the
pea .._, to conduct the said election fairly and impartially, shall be
qualified to act; and their certificate shall be the evidence of elec-
tion; and every succeeding election shall be holden by three per-
sons to be appointed by the Intendant and Councilmen, any two
of whom, first being qualified as above, shall be competent to
conduct the same.
Sec. 4. A1nd be it further enacted, That the said Intendant and
Councilmen, are declared a body politic and corporate, by the
name and style of the Intendant and Councilmen of the town of Name and
Decatur, and by said corporate name shall be capable of suing
and being sued, of pleading and being impleaded, in any manner
of action, either in law or equity; that they shall have power to
order and establish a common seal, and the same to break or alter Powers.

vileges incident to bodies politic and corporate.
Soc. 5. dnd be it further enacted, That the said Intendant and Election of
Councilmen, shall elect a Town Marshall and a Treasurer, who officers.
