the Bank of the State of Alabama, at Huntsville, in aid of the capital of the
said Bank and its soveral Branches, and to be used by them respectively, as
may best cormport with their interest.
Sic. 3. And be itfurther enacted, That the faith, credit and resources of
the State of Alabama, be, and are hereby solemnly pledged for the payment o-1,1 utc laith
the interest and principal of said bonds, issued in pursuance of the first section

To amondJ and enlargo an act entitled an act to incorporaic the town of Gainesville, in the
county of Sumter, approved January 10th, 1835.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Represen-
tatives qf the State of dlabanza tit General dssembly convened,
That the limits of the town of Gainesville, in the county of Sumter, be exteid. Incorporatn[
ed so as to cinbraco within the same, all of fractional section number two, and
all that part of the north hnlf of section number eleven, and all that part of
fractional section number one, all in township number twenty-one, of range two
west of the Tuscaloosa Land District, which lie northerly and westerly of Fol.
som's Branch, so called, and all that part of the Tombackboo river in said
county, which lies opposite to and against said tract, and the said described and
included district, is hereby made a town corporate, and the inhabitants and citi.
zens thereof, forover, are hereby made, constituted and declared a body poli-
tic, for the purposes of town organization, government and police, with all the
powers neodful or usually incident to such incorporations, and the said town is
hereby authorized and empowered by its intendant and council in their name,
to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, defend and be defendud against,
and generally to do all and whatever the acts and things wlhi now are, or
hereafter shall be necessary or proper for the interest of said town and by said
intendant and council, and in their name, to receive, acquire, purcliase, hold,
lease or dispose of, to the use of said town, estate, real, personal and mixed, to
the amount of thirty thousand dollars, and public buildings, markets, grounds,
squares, roads, landings, wharves, walks, ways, bridges, schools and school-
houses, fire engines, house of correction cisterns, and improvements whatever,
to have, procure, establish, erect, inclose, use, regulate, control and keep in re-
pair and government, and police in and over all the same, to exercise anti
maintain.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That all free white males Eleclurs qual.

said town six months next before any election, shall be qualified electors
thereat.
See. 3. And be it further enacted, That an election shall be held at Election to be
some convenient place in said town, on the first Monday of March next, on holden.

cil or othdfreeholders of said town, thereto appointed by the intendant and
council: Provided, that said intendant and council, in case of failure to hold
stich election, on the first Monday in March in every year, may and shall hold
