Sec. 13. And be it further enacted, That the sheriffs of the  U
counties of Madison, Tuskaloosa, and Monroe, shall be the Returning

AN ACT
To prevent free Negroes and nulattoes from retailing spiritous liquors,
and for other purposes.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Represen-
latives ofth State If Alabama, in Generalssembly convened. Prohibill.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That any free negro or Forfeiture.

sions of this act, shall forfeit and pay the sum often dollars
for every such offence; recoverable before any court having
competent jurisdiction of the same, one half to the informer
and the other half to be paid into the county treasury.
