BE it cnacied by the Senate and House f Reprsenatives of the State of Alabama in General Assernbly convened, That all the Land taxeslanlds liable to tasation in this state shall be taxed according to their value which valse, shall be ascertnined and returned upon the oath, or alfirination, as the case may be, of the owner or owncts or imons liable to pay taxes for the same. Sec. 2. And be it further enactcd, ly the authority aforesaid, That. the sum of sixteen cents for every hundred dollars value he paid on all Land ia.lan1ds wIthinl this State, which may have been cleared out of the land regulaled oflice, and to which a cnnplete title has been obtained by the same. by n And th tax on all lands purchased of the United States, and liabl nents paidto (axation, shall be proportioned to the number of instalments paid by the owner or ownters on the first day of January next, preceding the limo of making his, her, or their return of lands liable to taation as aforesaid, namely, if one instalment only be paid to the govern- ment of the United States, four cents for everyhundred dollars value: if two instalments, eight cents for every hundred dollars value.
