R. V. Bottomly served as Attorney General during the two-year period covered
by this volume. Serving the full period were Fred Lay as First Assistant, Clarence
Hanley as Assistant, Robert L. Word, Jr., as Special Assistant and Betty Ander-
egg as Stenographer. Alfred F. Dougherty returned from service with the Navy
to resume his work as Assistant on January 23, 1946. Baxter Larson was ap-
pointed Assistant on October 24, 1946. Patrick J. Gilfeather served as Assistant
until March 26, 1945, when he was granted leave of absence to serve in the Navy.
He returned to serve as Assistant from March 1, 1946, to September 15, 1946.
Mr. Gilfeather was appointed Special Assistant August 1, 1947. J. R. Wine, Jr.,
was appointed Law Clerk September 26, 1945, resigned to be appointed Assistant
January 1, 1946, where he served until he resigned March 1, 1946. Myles J. Thomas
served as Special Assistant until June 30, 1945. On March 25, 1946, Charles L.
O'Donnell, Jr., returned from service with the Air Force to resume his position as
Law Clerk and served until June 24, 1946. Arthur R. Meyer was appointed Law
Clerk September 30, 1946. Florence Schultz resigned November 11, 1946. Virginia
Taylor was appointed Stenographer December 9, 1946.
