Section 2371 prior to its 1974 amendment applies to approval of a petition for transfer, where written opposition is filed before the effective date of the amendment. Section 2371 as amended in 1974 applies to approval of a petition, where written opposition is filed after the effective date of the amendment. Requested by: DISTRICT ATTORNEY, SAN MATEO COUNTY COUNTY COUNSEL, CALAVERAS COUNTY Opinion by: EVELLE J. YOUNGER, Attorney General Elizabeth Palmer, Assistant The Honorable Keith C. Sorenson, District Attorney of San Mateo County, and The Honorable Richard A. Robyn, County Counsel of Calaveras County, have independently requested an opinion on a question that concerns the effect of amend- ments to section 2371 of the Education Code. Effective January 1, 1975, section 2371 changed the procedures required to approve a petition for the transfer of inhabited school district territory from one district to another, where the district of origin has filed written opposition to the transfer.
