Dear Sir:
This will acknowledge receipt of your letter of December
19, 1968, in which you asked:
Is it necessary for the Washington County
Election Commission to make an election
certificate to each individual elected to
the various city offices or can we certify
the results of the election to each City
Clerk and the Clerk give the oath of office
to each elected official?
Please be advised that Ark. Stat. Ann. S 19-903 provides
as follows:
The returns of all municipal corporations
shall be made to the election commissioners
of the county in which the corporation is
situated, and shall be by them opened within
three [3] days after receiving the same, who
shall count the vote as the same appears from
the poll-books, made an abstract thereof,
and forward the same to the mayor; they shall,
in like manner and without delay, furnish to each
candidate elected a certificate of election, or
leave the same at his usual place of abode.
