North Little iock, Arkansas
Dear Mr. Thompsons
In your recent letter you ask for an opinion on the following
question3
Can an Individual hold full time employment zis
a county eaployee and at the same time serve as
a member of a City Civil :'crvice Commission.
In my opinion the answer to your question Is yes. ih conotitu-
tional prohibition against dual office holding does not arAly
to city employees, Ark. Const. Art, 19, f6. The statutory
prohibition, Ark. Stats. (1947) (19-1601.1, prohibits candidates
for political office or holders of political office from being
members of a board of Civil Service Coimmissioners, this would Tiot
include a mere employee.
I trust the foregoing sufficiently answers your inquiry.
Very truly yours,
iOM GEiNTRY
Attorney General
