The People of the State of New-York, repre- sented in Senate and Assembly, do enact and declare as follows: TITLE I. OF RELIGIOUS CORPORATIONS. ARTICLE FIRST. Of the Incorporation of Protestant Episcopal Con- gregations. § 1. Every congregation not already incorporated, in communion with the Protestant Episcopal church, in which two church-wardens and eight vestrymen shall have been chosen, in the manner which is or shall be prescribed by the canons of that church, may proceed to incorporate themselves as a church, in the manner following: 1. A vestry meeting shall be held, at which the rector of the congregation, if there be one, and a majority of the wardens and vestrymen, shall attend. 1 2. Such meeting, by a majority of votes, shall determine by what name or title the congregation, as an incorporated church, shall be known, includ- ing in such name that of the place where the church is situate, and on what day in Easter week the church-wardens and vestrymen of such church shall thereafter be annually elected. 3.
