A BILL
To settle the land claims of Alaska natives, and for other purposes.

1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

2 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
3 That section 3 of the Act of May 25, 1926 (44 Stat. 629;

4 48 U.S.C. 355 (c) ),is amended to read as follows:
5 SEC. 3. (a) The Secretary of the Interior is authorized

6 to grant in trust, subject to valid existing rights, to each tribe,
7 band, clan, village, community, or group of natives in Alaska,
8 hereinafter referred to as a group of natives, upon his own

9 initiative and without application, title to the village site or

10 sites now occupied by such group of natives if not otherwise

11 patented and if not withdrawn for purposes unrelated to
