AWARDS OF MERIT ARE CONFERRED
UPON TEXAS AND ST. LOUIS GROUPS

At a ceremony in Fort Worth on
December 14, 1950, Charles H. Burton,
Chairman of the Junior Bar Confer-
ence, presented awards on behalf of
the Conference to the State Junior Bar
of Texas and the Fort Worth Junior
Bar Association. The Certificate of
Merit for the outstanding State Asso-
ciation in the United States during the
year 1949-50 was presented to Thomas
'H. Law, President of the Texas group
during that period, while an Honorable

Mr. Burton, in making the awards,
cited some of the activities of both the
Associations and also described the
organization and program of the Jun-
ior Bar Conference. He expressed the
hope that all younger lawyers would
participate in its projects during the
year and particularly stressed Public
Relations and Traffic Court Reform as
being worthy of their efforts.

Paul C. Cook, President of the Fort
Worth Junior Bar, for its excellence
among local Associations.
The presentation was made at a
meeting of the Fort Worth Junior Bar
Association attended by all appellate
and trial judges in the district and by
officers of the Fort Worth Bar. The
proceedings were televised as well as
being covered by the press.

the Bar Association of St. Louis was
formally presented by Mr. Burton at a
dinner of the St. Louis Bar Associa-
tion oIn Nov. 13, 1950, at the Hotel De-
Soto. The honor was conferred for the
activities of the group (luring the
period May 1949 to May 1950 under
the aggressive leadership of Fred C.
Schillinger, Chairman.  This marks
the second occasion that the St. Louis

JBC Program Planned For
Atlanta Regional Meeting
Baxter Jones to Preside for
JBC at First Regional
Convention
The Junior Bar Conference will par-
ticipate actively in each of the three
regional meetings of the American
Bar Association scheduled to be held
at Atlanta, Dallas and St. Louis dur-
ing 1951, according to Charles I.
Burton, JBC National Chairman.
C. Baxter Jones, Jr., JBC Council
Member for the 5th Circuit, will pre-
side at the JBC program to be held in
conjunction with the First Regional
Meeting tat Atlanta, Georgia, March
7-10, 1951. The tentative JBC schedule
contemplates a full day session on
Saturday, March 10, at the convention
headquarters in the Atlanta Biltmore
Hotel. Charles 11. Burton, National
Chairman, will address the group on
tile 1951 program and will be followed
by Paul W. Lashly, St. Louis, Mis-

Executive Council
To Alect In Chicago
On Saturd'y and Sunday, Feb. 24-
25, the Mid-Winter Meeting of the
Executive Council of the Junior Bar
Conference will be held at the Edge-
water Beach Hotel in Chicago, Ill.
This meeting, at which the National
Chairnan, Charles 11. Burton, will
preside, will be attended bly the na-
tional officers )f the Conference, mem-
hers of the Executive Council for each
of the ten Judicial Circuits, and the
chairmen of the national committees.
Reports will be given by each of the
national officers, councilmen and coni-
mittee chairmen. Action will be taken
upon resolutions to be proposed to the
House of Delegates of the American
Bar Association that the Association
continue its efforts to secure the effi-
cient utilization of lawyers called into
tie armed forces and that Association
dues for such members be waived.
