Discuss Aid for Europe
Speeches of Harold M. Stassen,
former Governor of Minnesota, and of
Paul V. McNutL, former Governor of
Indiana as well as Ambassador and
High Commissioner for the Philippine
Islands, and Consultant to the State
Department, highlighted luncheon ses-
sions of the Convention. Mr. Stassen
spoke before an overflow crowd at a
luncheon  sponsored jointly by the
JBC and the Section on International
and Comparative Law, on Tuesday,
September 23. He was preceded by
John Foster, M. P., former Counsellor
to the British Embassy in Washing-
ton, D. C., who gave an interesting
and witty description of The Lawyer
in Parliament.

Public Information Program to be Foremost Project
Next Year; Co-operation with Junior Bar Groups
and Law Students Also Will be Stressed
The Fourteenth Annual Meeting of the JBC, held at the Hotel Hollenden,
Cleveland, Ohio, September 20-23, was attended by more members than any
other meeting in the history of the Conference. The program adopted at the
Convention for 1947-1948 includes the continued highlighting of the Public
Information Program, and continuing activity in the fields of relations with
law students, inter-bar co-operation, aid to the small litigant, traffic court im-
provement, legislative drafting, and procedural reform.

Public Relations
The Public Information Program
which is designed to acquaint the pub-
lic with matters pertaining to Amer-
ican citizenship and civil rights, the
United Nations and the International
Court of Justice, the objectives and
programs of the ABA and the legal
profession, and the value of profes-
sional legal services as such, will con-
tinue full force next year. Emphasis
will be placed on radio programs, in-
cluding programs designed to inform
the citizenry of the states whose legis-
latures are in session, how their legis-
lature operates and what it is doing.
W. Carloss Morris, Jr., of Hous-
ton, Tex., will continue as National
Director of the Public Information
Program, assisted by four associate
Directors and an Advisory Board
composed of past National Chairmen
of the Junior Bar Conference and
past National Directors of the Public
Information Program.
Inter-Bar Activities
The Conference approved the rec-
ommendation of the Committee on
Activities, headed  by  C. Keating
Bowie, Jr., Baltimore, Md., that one
of the most important projects of the
Conference next year be the full in-
tegration  of existing  Junior Bar
groups into the Conference structure
and the promotion of new State and
local Junior Bar groups. This work
will be handled by the Committee on
Co-operation with Junior Bar Groups
which last year was under the Chair-
manship of Walter Keaton, new Na-
tional Vice-Chairman.
