                             Editorial

The importance of a publication on women and criminal justice is apparent
in this new issue, which begins a new year. This journal examines issues of
gender, the intersection of gender with race and ethnicity, and class and
social justice. Including both international and domestic concerns, we utilize
quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and both large and small data sets,
but we always start with theoretical inquiry. When social and legal changes
occur either in the United States or abroad, this journal will inquire into those
changes from a sociolegal context with an understanding of culture, econom-
ics, and an ethos of justice.
Behind the scenes of the journal, I have strong editorial board members
who are committed to providing our authors with sound advice and critique.
When papers are rejected, the reviewers seek to ensure that the authors are
given a fair evaluation with specific recommendations that ensure that sub-
sequent submissions are strong. When papers are accepted, our editors work
tirelessly to improve them to the fullest extent possible.
In the past year the journal has seen some changes in staffing at Taylor &
Francis, but I have valued all of my contacts with the production staff and
remain grateful to each staff member. The staff are always responsive, and
anyone who has worked with any of the editorial assistants or members of
the production team knows that they are wonderful.
A couple of years ago I instituted a Case Briefs section to end each vol-
ume of the journal, and I will continue this tradition. Any authors who wish
to analyze case briefs or summarize recent statutory changes that impact their
state, region, or nation may please do so. Such information is welcome as we
track all forms of sociolegal transformations occurring in the United States
and around the world.
