Congratulations are due to Gil Friedlander and the other members of the Revision of Corporation Law Committee (see above article) for their fine effort in getting all of their proposals adopted during the 1985 legislative session. 1985 Amendments to the Texas Banking Code and other Financial Institution Laws are discussed in an article by Linda Newman and Mike Tankersley of Hughes & Luce, Dal- las. Page 19. A new feature included in this is- sue is a compilation of Corporate, Banking and Business Law Articles in Texas Legal Publications by Va- lerie J. Rodawalt, Assistant Li- brarian, Hughes & Luce, Dallas. Page 30. The Section's substantive law committees (see back cover) are now setting their agenda for the coming biennium and will welcome suggestions from the Section's membership. In particular, if you are aware of needs for state legislative action in the fields of law covered by the Section, please let the appropri- ate committee chairmen know. The present timetable for legislative pro- posals requires that any action by the Section be initiated in the coming months. The Partnership Law Committee, under the direction of Chairman Steve Waters, Haynes & Boone, Dal- las, is undertaking a two-year proj- ect to redraft the Texas Uniform Limited Partnership Act. Sugges- tions and contributions should be di- rected to him. The Partnership Law Committee recently completed a Limited Partnership Model Agree- ment and Certificate with Commen- tary that was published at 26 South Texas Law Journal 15. Reprints were sent to all members of the Sec- tion last Summer. An ad-hoc committee chaired by Bill Porter, Porter & Clements, Hous- ton, has been appointed by the Sec- tion's Council to evaluate the need for and feasibility of the Section promulgating a uniform opinion to be rendered in specified corporate transactions, similar to that pro- duced by the Real Property Law Section for use in mortgage lending transactions. An ad-hoc committee chaired by Vernon Teofan, Freytag, LaForce, Rubinstein & Teofan, Dallas, has been appointed by the Council to consider revisions to the Texas Uni- form Fraudulent Conveyances Act. Welcome additions to the scholar- ship presented in the Bulletin are commitments received from Joe Norton, Professor of Law at South- ern Methodist University School of Law and David Sokolow, Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Texas School of Law to contribute articles of interest to the Section over the coming year. Professor Norton will address banking and fi- nancial institutions law questions in the February and August issues of the Bulletin and Professor Sokolow will address corporate law questions in the May and November issues of the Bulletin. These are the first com- mitments of this nature received by the Bulletin from the academic com- munity, and offer the promise of making the Bulletin a more effective aid to the Section's membership. Members of the Section are invited to submit to the Editor of the Bulletin topics that would be suitable for re- search and publication by Profes- sors Norton and Sokolow.
