Be Part of a
SONREEL First!
By Lisa M. Campbell
Be part of SONREEL history-come
to the SONREEL First Annual Fall
Meeting at the Grove Park Inn in
Asheville, North Carolina,
September 29 to October 3, 1993.
This meeting promises to be excit-
ing. In addition to learning the lat-
est legal and regulatory
developments in environmental,
energy, and natural resources law
from leaders in the field, you will
have the chance to become more
actively involved in SONREEL
activities and to foster relationships
with other SONREEL members.
The meeting will combine
SONREEL Council Meetings, CLE
opportunities, committee meetings,
and numerous social events, making
it a not-to-be-missed event.
For those who would like to ven-
ture beyond Grove Park Inn in pur-
suing educational opportunities, four
field trips will be offered: one to
Grandfather Mountain to view the
effects of acid rain; a hike with a
naturalist on the north slope of
Hickory Nut Gorge, home to several
rare and endangered plants and ani-
mals; a visit to Champion's Canton
pulp and paper mill to see its nearly
completed modernization work,
which is designed to make signifi-
cant improvements in both air and
water quality; and a trip to the
Biltmore Forest.

In addition to offering a wealth
of educational opportunities, the
meeting will make it easy to become
a more active SONREEL member.
A reception where newcomers to
the Section can meet SONREEL
Officers, Council Members, and
Committee Chairs will be held the
first evening. Committee meetings
open to all interested SONREEL
members will take place on
Saturday morning. Come share your
ideas on committee objectives, pro-
grams, publications, and other pro-
jects. Resource group meetings
(energy, environmental, and natural
resources) will take place on
Sunday morning.
Taking part in the wide array of
social events throughout the meet-
ing will be not only great fun, but a
chance to network with other
SONREEL members. Receptions,
breakfasts, a luncheon, and a din-
ner, as well as opportunities to golf,
play tennis, ride horseback, and
tour, abound.
So be part of this historic first
free-standing SONREEL Annual
Fall Meeting-sign up now! See a
full schedule of activities in the
Center Pullout of this issue.
