JANUARY to JUNE, 1961

When an old established firm of solicitors makes a
move, the present owners often find a pile of correspon-
dence that has been accumulated for over a century and
is now completely valueless to their business.
The solicitor is loath to destroy such correspondence
for three reasons.
Firstly, if he had time to look through it, he might
find a document of some legal value.
Secondly, if he is a good business man, he knows
that he may be destroying something of historical or
literary value.
Thirdly (and he may not know this fact), over half
the old postage stamps that have been found during
this century and for which substantial sums have been
paid by collectors, have been found in the dusty archives
of the solicitor's office.
There is only one course of action that is open to him
and which will solve his problem and there is only one
firm that can give him the appropriate service.

He can write or phone Robson Lowe Ltd., of 50 Pall
Mall, London, S.W.1, who have the skilled staff trained
to divide his records into-
(1) documents that should be kept by him
(2) confidential documents that should be destroyed
(3) letters and documents of literary and historical
value (both national and local)
(4) letters and envelopes bearing handstruck (1661-
1890) and adhesive stamps of value
(5) the balance that is suitable for a vaste-paper
merchant
There is no fee for a consultation.
If the archives have been untouched for over a
hundred years, more often than not there is a substan-
tial sum to be found from the proper disposal of the
third and fourth sections described above.

The telephone number is TRAfalgar 4034.
