Res Publica is now entering its 27th year. The journal has been going through excit-
ing developments in recent years. We have seen a steady increase every year both in
terms of the number of submissions and especially in the number of downloads of
papers from the journal. Res Publica is an increasingly attractive venue for publica-
tion, and more and more people are reading what we publish.
We have introduced a strong team of Associate Editors, most recently expanded
a year ago. This organizational upgrade means that we are able to keep up the high
quality of our review process and are ready for continued growth and improvement.
The central aim for Res Publica is to offer a unique venue for research in politi-
cal, legal, moral and social philosophy. Our distinctive profile is precisely that we
provide a forum for interdisciplinary discussions which are not confined to one nar-
row sub-discipline but facilitate philosophical discussions of theoretical and prac-
tical issues cutting across politics, law and ethics. We believe that this allows for
valuable synergies and inspiration for new research. Issues of public concern do not
respect disciplinary boundaries.
We aim to publish excellent research within this field, by established scholars
as well as the best junior academics. Going forward, our ambition is to stimulate
activity within the discipline. We are therefore excited to be able to announce that
from 2021 we will embark on several new initiatives. One of these is that we can
now offer support for workshops and other activities, which we expect to generate
high-quality submissions to the journal, including Special Issues and Symposia. In
our funding of such activities, we will aim to strengthen the particular areas falling
within our aims and scope. We will simultaneously seek to encourage work from
historically less well-represented groups, including female authors, in order to fur-
ther diversity among contributors to the discipline. Another of our new initiatives
is a cooperative venture with CRITIQUE: Centre for Ethics and Critical Thought
