Section of Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Q American Bar Associal
Editor: Malcolm A. Moore, Seattle First National Bank Building, Seattle, Washington 98104

by Section Chairman William P. Cantwell

In the spring of 1966 the Real Property,
Probate and Trust Journal made its appearance. In
the six years since, it has become an established and
valuable periodical in the field, under the able
 editorship of Pat Lacovara.
Since volume 2 of the Journal we have carried a
Newsletter in it, distinguished by its yellow pages.
The burgeoning activities in Legal America, and in the
 fields of property and probate,
 have steadily increased the num-
ber and scope of those pages. At
 its Spring Meeting in Williams-
iburg, Virginia, in April, 1972,
the Council determined that the
time had arrived to split off the
Newsletter pages from the Jour-
nal; and thus was born Probate
and Property, of which this is the
first issue. The Section is ex-
tremely fortunate in having the energetic and capable
Malcolm Moore of Seattle as editor of the new
publication. We feel-confident that he will make it a
valuable and meaningful additional service to the
membership.
To cope with the exciting and prolific develop-
ments in editorial subject matter originating with the

Real Property Division so ably led by Luther Avery
of San Francisco for the last three years, the Council
created a new post, that of Associate Editor of the
Journal. We are equally fortunate in this area as well,
for we have filled this position by appointing Shale
Stiller of Baltimore, another highly talented practi-
tioner with exceptional skills. Shale will assist Pat
Lacovara, and will have principal responsibility for
editing real property materials.
Contributions of items for Probate and
Property are welcome from all members. It will seek
to furnish news items about the Section and to cover
in very brief fashion significant hot-line develop-
ments occurring in the probate, trust and real
property field. As always, the Journal will continue
to give careful attention to original contributions and
will give a forum to the committees which are the
working arms of the Section. The Council sincerely
hopes the changes will be a valuable extension of
service to the membership. Contributions and com-
ments for Probate and Property should go to Malcolm
A. Moore, 4200 Seattle-First National Bank Building,
Seattle, Washington 98154. As previously, original
manuscripts submitted to the Journal should go to P.
Philip Lacovara, Editor, One Wall Street, New York,
New York 10005.
