Note from the Editors
A little while ago, two issues ago to be exact, we wrote an editorial celebrating the 10t year
of the publication of Psychology, Crime & Law. In that piece we reflected on the various
successes - including special issues of the journal, articles by prestigious researchers, and an
increased standing according to citation indices amongst our peer journals - that we had
enjoyed since the journal's inception in 1994. Further, the forging of a strong link with
The European Association of Psychology and Law also marked a significant milestone for
the journal. The result of these accumulated successes, we noted, was a welcome increase in
the rate of submissions to the journal, perhaps particularly seen in the increased flow of
papers from researchers across Europe. While a growth in the number of high quality
papers accepted for publication is a healthy state of affairs, such an increase invariably
means a longer and longer publication lag. Thus, in order to reduce the length of the
publication lag, the decision was made that from Volume 10 there would be an increase in
the page length of each of the four issues published each year.
In tracking progress since the 10th volume, the increased length of each issue has eased
the publication lag but the number of papers submitted for publication continues to rise.
Therefore, with effect from this volume, the decision has been taken to increase the page
count yet again, this time by moving the publication rate from four to six issues per year. We
see this increase in the number of issues as a significant vote of confidence in the journal by
the publishers. This latest increase in annual page numbers will enable us to publish more
papers each year and, hopefully, push the journal to even higher standards. Further, again
with effect from this volume, we have taken the decision to drop the publication of book
reviews in order to free more space for research papers.
Finally, we have made several changes to the membership of the Editorial Board. All of
those connected with the publication of Psychology, Crime & Law would like to record their
thanks to retiring members of the Board, welcome the new members, and record our
continuing appreciation to old friends who stay with us.
