Bulletin of the

Section of Judicial Administration

      American Bar Association

Vol. 2, No. 1

Dec. 15, 1958

MESSAGE FROM
THE CHAIRMAN

TO ALL MEMBERS
OF THE SECTION:
The present Bulletin marks the beginning of the active
year of the Section for 1958. The Bulletin will be as
concise as possible, and it is hoped that it will be so
brief that members will be able to select it from the
masses of printed matter that cross their desks on the
way to oblivion, and READ IT. It will be issued from
time to time to inform all members of the Sectiqn of
the progress of our work.
Among the many achieveme'nts of Mr. Justice Clark
last year was the authorization by the Association of
an administrative assistant and secretary for the Section.
The selection and organization of this personnel is now
in progress. With such new office personnel it will be
possible to adopt and carry forward from year to year
comprehensive plans in a way that has heretofore been
impossible. The office will be located at the American
Bar Center and will constitute a center of information
and assistance to all members, including lawyers, trial
judges, and appellate judges, who are interested in the
improvement of our judicial system.
The general committees of the Section for 1958-1959
are listed in this issue. In a forthcoming Bulletin it is
expected that the members of the state committees will
be published. As soon as the administrative office is
organized, details will be published in a separate number.
The photograph of Judge Parker on this page of the
Bulletin is published in memory of a great judge and
inspiring leader, whose ideals and energy have made it
possible for the Section to be what it is today, and now
inspire us to further efforts.
I look forward to a year of hard work and substan-
  tial progress with you.
