Yugoslavia is one of the founders of the United Nations Organization. From her very inception to date she has pursued a policy of international co-operation and harmony. Fittingly, Yugoslavia has been devoting much attention to the conclusion of in- ternational agreements, treaties and conventions, doing so both for the sake of strengthening world peace and security and for contributing her share to the fo- stering of economic, cultural and other international relations and ties. As a result, suggestions have been received from differents quarters ab- road that we devote one or more issues of our review to the subject of ,,Yu- goslav International Law. We are responding with this issue, and further space will be given to the same topic in our forthcoming numbers. In order to illuminate the question of ,,Yugoslav International Law, we have also deemed it pertinent to include here a study by Edvard Kardelj, Vice President of the Federal Executive Council, being a reproduction of a lecture the author delivered in November, 1955 at the Institute for Foreign Relations in London. This study traces the basic principles of Yugoslav foreign policy. The documentary part of this issue includes three sections. First, there are the integral and authentic texts of the declarations or agreements of which Yugoslavia is a signatory and which command a general international interest, viz., the Yugoslav - Soviet Declaration of 1955, the Tito - Nehru Declaration and the Tito-U Nu Declaration of 1954, as well as the Balkan Pact. Next the juridical regulating of international legal aid, in both the civil, trade and criminal matters, is reviewed. This section also lists the treaties effec- tive between Yugoslavia and other countries. And lastly, a systematized chronological compendium is provided of Yu- goslavia' s international treaties. Documentation on these treaties will appear suc- cessively in our future issues.
