Claude Horack was appointed Dean of the Law School for the year 1934-35, to act while Dean Justin Miller is away on a year's leave of absence. Dean Miller is acting as a special assistant to the United States Attorney General. Professor Charles L. B. Lowndes, from the Georgetown University Law School, who has been added to the Duke Law School faculty, will teach Administrative Law, Trusts and Taxation during the fall semester. Early in the summer Mr. Leslie Craven resigned from the faculty to accept the position of advisor to Joseph B. Eastman, Coordinator of Railroads, and Mr. Gordon Dean, Assistant to the Dean, resigned to accept a position in the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice. LAW LADIES' AUXILIARY PICNIC SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY, OCTOBER SEVENTH The Law Ladies' Auxiliary is giving a picnic to the students and staff of the Law School on Sunday evening, October 7th, at 5:30. The group will gather in the woods back of the home of Dean Miller. In case of rain the picnic will be moved to the Bar Association Lounge on the third floor of the Law School building. DUKE BAR ASSOCIATION PLANS ACTIVE YEAR At a recent meeting of the Board of Governors, organiza- tion for the work of the year was perfected and plans were made for an active program of activities. The first meeting will be held in October and the exact date and program will be announced in the near future. The practice of serving after- noon tea, inagurated last year, is to be continued. Tea will be served on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 4:00, in the new Bar Association quarters on the third floor in the Law School building. The Duke Bar Journal will be jointly edited by Morris W. Adelson and Porter Peteet. Mr. Adelson will be in charge of notes and comments on current decisions and Mr. Peteet will be in charge of the publication of the reports of the various sections and other similar material. The section on Criminal Law plans to continue the Durham crime survey commenced last year. Plans for the work of the other sections are now being perfected and will be announced later.
