10 Liverpool L. Rev. 4 (1988)

handle is hein.journals/lvplr10 and id is 1 raw text is: Editorial

The Editorial Board is proud to present the 'new look' Liverpool
Law Review. Since the inception of the Review in 1979 the Board
has had three major objectives: first to make a meaningful contribu-
tion to academic scholarship through extending the frontiers of le-
gal knowledge and thought; second, to improve the quality of the
product through judicious changes in the production process; and
third, to encourage new writers to enter the field of academic publi-
cation. It is, therefore fitting that volume 10 of the Review should
feature changes designed to further these objectives.
For some time we have been planning the move to a larger format
more in keeping with other academic journals. That this is possible
with the current issue is due to a reformulation of the successful pro-
duction arrangement that already existed with Deborah Charles
Publications. The Editorial Board will continue to provide the aca-
demic management of the Review while the publishing and
commercial responsibilities will be the concern of Deborah Charles
Publications. We believe that this new arrangement will further
the existing objectives and allow us to continue to provide a service
aimed at the advancement of legal education in its widest possible
sense.
In keeping with the desire to widen the boundaries of legal
scholarship, we deemed it appropriate to signify our interest in de-
veloping new ideas by adopting a sub-title, A Journal of Contempo-
rary Legal Issues. This does little more than emphasise a previously
unwritten focus. We do, however, take a very broad view of what is
contemporary, as witness the contents of the current issue. It is
clearly not limited to the latest case or report, particularly where
one is referring to developments in legal theory.
There are a number of ways of contributing to the twin objectives
of furthering legal scholarship and introducing new authors. In par-
ticular, courses and conferences generate stimulating ideas about ar-
eas commonly linked by a common theme. We intend to devote a cer-
tain number of future issues to articles which reflect this 'symposia
approach'. The first such issue will focus upon Child Abuse. We
welcome, and invite authors to submit, ideas and manuscripts for our
consideration. We do not delimit this in any way except that there
should be some relationship with legal thought and/or practice.
We hope you enjoy reading this issue and that you will wish to
help us to continue to enhance understanding in legal and related
fields of inquiry.
