Mullen, Jr.; Chairman Thomas D. Cochran; Secretary Robert P. Murray. The 35th annual meeting of the Young Lawyers Section held last August in Dallas, Texas, resulted in the election of Thomas D. Cochran of Independence, Missouri, as National Chairman of the Section. Mr. Cochran, who served as Vice-Chairman during the past year received his legal education from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. He is a partner in the law firm of Piedimont & Cochran in Independence, Missouri. At the annual meeting Joseph W. Mullen, Jr., of New York City was elected Vice-Chairman and Chairman-Elect of the Section. Mr. Mullen is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Law and is associated with the Metropolitan life Insurance Company. During the past year he served as Secretary of the Section. Immediate Past YLS Chairman Richard E. Wiley (left) congratulating 1969-1970 Chairman Thomas D. Cochran. Moving up to the position of National Secretary is Robert P. Murray of Lakeland, Florida. Mr. Murray is a graduate of the University of Florida Law School and is a partner in the Lakeland law firm of Holland & Knight. All three new officers have wide experiences in various capacities with the American Bar Association as well as extensive backgrounds in state and local bar activities. Each man is well prepared for the position of responsibility that he has to undertake in the Section. Also at the annual meeting, Mr. Richard E. Wiley of Chicago, Illinois, retiring National Chairman, and Stanford E. Lerch of Phoenix, Arizona, a past Director of the Section, were elected as Section Delegates to the American Bar Association House of Delegates. Mr. Wiley and Mr. Lerch join incumbent J. David Andrews of Seattle, Washington, in representing the Young Lawyers Section in the House of Delegates. Of note is the action of the House of Delegates at the Dallas, Texas meeting in defeating by a wide margin a resolution to reduce the number of Young Lawyers Section Delegates from 3 to 1. Daniel T. Rabbitt Harry L. Hathaway ASSEMBLY OFFICERS The Young Lawyers Section at the annual meeting elected Harry L. Hathaway of Los Angeles, California, to the post of Speaker of the Assembly and Daniel T. Rabbitt of St. Louis, Missouri, to the post of Assembly Clerk. Mr. Hathaway received his law degree from the University of Southern California Law School and is a partner in the Los Angeles law firm of Hill, Farer & Burrill. Mr. Rabbitt is a graduate of St. Louis University School of Law and is associated with the St. Louis law firm of Moser, Marsalek, Carpenter, Cleary & Jaeckel. During the previous year Mr. Hathaway served as the Assembly Clerc. Mr. Rabbitt and Mr. Joel M. Boyden of Grand Rapids, Michigan, were both nominated to the office of Assembly Clerk but, prior to a vote being taken, Mr. Boyden withdrew.
