A NEW GENERATION OF SPECIAL COLLECTIONS
Library literature defines special collections in varying ways.
According to the ALA Glossary of Library Terms, a special collec-
tion is:
A collection of material of a certain form, on a certain subject, of a
certain period, or gathered together for some particular reason, in a
library which is more or less general in character.'
