From No- vember 6 to 9, attendees will have the opportunity to attend sessions focusing on the National Labor Re- lations Act, basic ~equal employ- ment oppor- tunity law and pro- cedures, employ- ment liti- gation skills training, trade secrets and covenants not to com- pete, and the Fair Labor Stan- dards and Family and Medical Leave Acts. The new format was rolled out in Chicago this June and presented again in Los Ange- les in September. Conducting these sessions in the same loca- tion over several days affords those who are new to the practice of labor and employment law or would 1 ke further training in these areas the opportunity to do so all in one location. Attendees will have the option of registering for only the programs that they plan to attend or registering for the entire four-day series at a dis- counted rate. The Section's ba- sics programs are a remarkable value with each full-day program priced at only $125 for Section members and each half-day ses- sion costing only $95. The sessions will take place at the Wyndham Atlanta Hotel. The program will begin on Wednesday, November 6, with a full-day program focusing on the basics of the National Labor Rela- tions Act. The one-day Employ- ment Litigation Skills Training Pro- gram and the Equal Employment Opportunity Basic Law and Proce- dures Program will run on Thurs- day, November 7, and on Friday, November 8, respectively. The Section also will sponsor half-day programs addressing the issues related to the Fair Labor Stan- dards Act and Family and Medical Leave Act, and trade secrets and covenants not to compete on Sat- urday, November 9. The Employment Litigation Skills Training sessions will fea- ture presentations on pleadings, deposition techniques that win cases, summary judgment, win- ning trial techniques, and over- coming the obstacles presented by temperamental judges and dif- ficult adversaries. The EEO Basics sessions will include a substantive law overview, the administrative process, ethical issues, and settle- ment alternatives, among others. The FLSA and FMLA program will provide a substantive law overview, guidelines for enforce- ment of the Acts, exemptions, and remedies available under the Acts. The session focusing on trade secrets will focus on the duty of loyalty and strategies and tactics for litigation.
