This article explains that technique, and translates it into terms for the trial lawyer. A time honored secret Everybody loves a good story. But what is it about a story that makes it good? Several factors could be cited -- sympathetic characters, conflict, disasters, peaks and valleys. These are all part of the answer. But the one thing we remem- ber most about stories is how we feel. Thus, a ripping good story is one that gives us a memorable, emotional ride. As one well known writing instructor, Robert McKee, puts it: A story is a series of events, selected from vast material, and composed into a strategic sequence of events to express and arouse in the audience a specific emotion, and expressing and proving the writer's idea of the world. ....... .........
