EDITOR'S NOTE
Welcome to the fourth edition of the
Administrative Court Office Newsletter.
This has been a particularly busy year
for the Administrative Court Office.
We are set to surpass, by a
considerable margin, the number of
cases received last year. with total
receipts currently looking to exceed
7000, an increase of some 14% on
last year. Notwithstanding this, we
have continued to meet our targets,
although there was inevitably some
slippage on processing permission
applications in the long vacation due to
the limited access to judges during
that period.
Consideration is being given to finding
ways of alleviating the problems faced
during the long vacation. I will keep
you informed of developments.
This has also been a year of
significant change. In June Master
Venne succeeded Master McKenzie
CB QC as Master of the Crown Office,
(Administrative Court), the latter
having retired following a distinguished
career in the Court Service.

Also changes to procedure resulting
from implementation of the Proceeds
of Crime and Nationality, Immigration
and Asylum Acts 2002 have presented
new challenges for the Administrative
Court Office staff and you, our
customers.
All in all, this has been another
successful year for the Administrative
Court Office in terms of achievements.
Long may this continue!
Finally, on behalf of the Office, may I
take this opportunity to wish all our
customers a Merry Christmas and
Happy and Prosperous New Year.
