ABSTRACT. I draw on a substantial body of theoretical and empirical research on
COVID-19-related depression, anxiety, and psychological stress in sexual and gender
minority populations, and to explore this, I inspected, used, and replicated survey
data from Chapman University, College Pulse, Course Hero, Ginger, Harvard Medical
School, ICF, NASPA, Statista, UNC School of Medicine, University of Maryland/
SPH, and UPMC, performing analyses and making estimates regarding COVID-19-
related trauma and mental distress among sexual and gender minority populations.
Descriptive statistics of compiled data from the completed surveys were calculated
when appropriate.
Keywords: sexual; gender; minority; COVID-19; depression; anxiety; stress

1. Introduction
Mental health issues may exacerbate the medical and psychological vulner-
abilities of LGBTQ+ populations (Lazaroiu et al., 2018) throughout the
COVID-19 pandemic outbreak (Byerly et al., 2019), configuring challenges
as regards their psychological well-being. (Salerno et al., 2020) Economic
declines intensify discrimination of LGBTQ+ individuals, cognitive, emo-
tional, and behavioral disorders (Lazaroiu, 2018) related to COVID-19 isola-
tion, quarantine, and physical distancing. (Mattei et al., 2021) COVID-19
immoderately affects marginalized groups. (Wypler and Hoffelmeyer, 2020)
