    The Division II Committee on Infractions has placed Clark
    Atlanta University on probation, as well as administered a
    wide array of other penalties against the school after deter-
    mining that there had been rules violations within two ofits
    athletic programs.

4   Federal  Judge   Ends  College  Basketball
    Player's Claims
    A federal judge from the Western District of Texas has dismissed
    the claim ofa former Texas State University (TSU) basketball
    player, who alleged that the university and several individual
    defendants at the school conspired to take away his scholarship
    and deny him his Constitutional rights.

5   SLU  Avoids  Harsh   Penalties, Even  Though 137
    Student  Athletes  Competed While Ineligible
    The NC4A  Division I Committee on Infractions has adminis-
    tered a proverbial slap on the wrist to Southeastern Louisiana
    University, in spite of the fact that the school allowed more
    than 100 student athletes to compete, while ineligible, over a
    5-year period.


5   Special  Report:  Degree-Auditing Systems in
    Compliance Setting
    In the wake of the NC4A Division I Committee on Infractions
    decision to punish Southeastern Louisiana University for rules
    violations, involving degree plans and eligibility certification
    forms, we decided to reach out to the compliance community
    with some questions. Specifically, we wanted to find out if they
    use automated degree-auditing systems in their practice as well
    as whether they have installed checks and balances to ensure
    that paperwork gets done and is accessible at a moment's notice.
