Kwesi Aning  is the director and dean of the Faculty of Academic Affairs and
Research  at the  Kofi Annan   International Peacekeeping  Training  Centre
(KAIPTC)  Accra, Ghana.

Goran  Bjorkdahl  is a senior program manager  at the Swedish  International
Development  Cooperation  Agency (SIDA) based in Burkina Faso and has spent
25 years in Africa. His research focuses on the UN's role in the Congo 1960-
61. He coordinated this independent research between 2007 and 2012.

David Curran  is a lecturer in the Division of Peace Studies, University of Brad-
ford, specializing in peacekeeping, peacebuilding and conflict resolution. His
research covers the role of conflict resolution in training programmes for military
peacekeepers, with particular focus on the development of UN   training pro-
grammes;  the evolution of rapid-reaction forces such as the AU standby brigades
and  EU  battle-groups; and the potential of specialized UN  rapid reaction
capabilities.

Fiifi Edu-Afful is a researcher with the Gender, Peace and Security Programme of
the Kofi Annan  International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC)  Accra,
Ghana.

Mimmi   Soderberg Kovacs is an assistant professor at the Department of Peace
and  Conflict Research at Uppsala  University in Sweden,  and researcher at
the Nordic  Africa Institute, Uppsala, Sweden. Her research interests include
non-state actors in civil wars, conflict resolution processes, and post-war
democratisation.

C6cile Mouly is a lecturer-researcher at the Facultad Latinoamericana de Cien-
cias Sociales (FLACSO) in Quito, Ecuador where she teaches courses in peace and
conflict studies and human rights. Earlier, she worked on peacebuilding and con-
flict prevention with the UN, the OAS and the Carter Center. She holds a PhD in
international relations from the University of Cambridge and has conducted
extensive research on the role of civil society-led peacebuilding initiatives.

Desir6e Nilsson is associate professor at the Department of Peace and Conflict
Research  at Uppsala University, Sweden.  Her  research focuses on multiple
parties in civil war termination, civil society actors in peace processes, power
sharing, and the management of spoilers.
