Washingtio, DC-April 27-30, 1994
New Rules and Institutions, New Markets and Challenges

he Section's 1994 Annual Spring
Meeting will be held at the Capi-
tol Hilton Hotel in Washington,
DC April 27-30, 1994. The event will
provide a unique opportunity for all
lawyers-in private practice, govern-
ment and legal education-to explore
the year's most significant international
legal developments from the inside
where the laws and policies are made.
The congressional debate over NAFTA,
followed immediately by the APEC meet-
ing and the conclusion of the Uruguay
Round focused unprecedented attention
on international trade issues and the in-
creasing integration of the United States
into the world economy. At the same
time, political and economic changes
have opened new and exciting markets
for companies throughout the world,
while at crisis points new multilateral
initiatives have challenged the traditional
roles of international institutions.
The Spring Meeting will showcase pro-
grams on the new rules and institutions
of the world trading and investment sys-
tem, opening markets in Asia and other
important developments, along with the
traditional roundtable discussion of
agency General Counsels and the an-
nual review of judicial and arbitral de-
cisions.

Washington, DC will once again play host to the Section's Spring Meeting April 27-30, 1994.

There will be a wide variety of commit-
tee programs expanding on showcase
themes, including dispute resolution un-
der NAFTA, developments in foreign in-
vestment, international antitrust policy
and immigration reform, as well as pro-
grams exploring legal developments and
market opportunities in Russia, South
Africa, the European Union, the Middle
East and Central and East Europe.
Continuing the successful series of In-
ternational Practitioners' Workshops, the
Spring Meeting will feature how to
courses on financing international trans-
actions through public institutions, the

Washington policy/lobbying process and
international arbitration under LCIA rules.
This is a chance to hear key administra-
tion officials speak substantively on im-
portant international legal issues. The
opening reception at the State Depart-
ment's Diplomatic Reception Rooms will
be a truly inside Washington experi-
ence, and the National Press Club Din-
ner featuring participants in the Middle
East peace process promises to be a
news-making event.
It will be an exciting meeting. We hope
you will join us. U
