Annual Spring Meeting, April 28-May 1 Internanatnal Law and Business in a Changing World he Section's Annual Spring Meet- ing will be held in Washington, D.C. April 28-May 1, 1993, at the Capital Hilton Hotel. More than 80 speak- ers will participate in over 25 programs. In addition, this year's Annual Spring Meeting initiates the Section's new excit- ing International Practitioners' Work- shop Series. The Series is intended to provide How To programs on several subjects at each of our Section's major meetings, thus offering younger lawyers and lawyers desiring to obtain new ca- pabilities, the opportunity to develop their skills as inlernational practitioners. The initial topics are: How To Carry Out an ICSID Arbitration, How To Draft an International Joint Venture Agreement, and How To File an Antidumping Peti- tion on Behalf of U.S. Industries. CEELI and ILEX to Place Polish Lawyers in U.S. Firms he Central and East European Law Initiative (CEELI), an ABA project developed by the Section of Inter- national Law and Practice, in conjunc- tion with the Section's ILEX Committee, will bring up to six lawyers from Poland for individual placements within Ameri- can law offices throughout the United States. Polish lawyers will concentrate on American commercial law practice. This pilot Polish program is a component of CEELI's Commercial Law Reform Project, funded by the United States Agency for International Development. The Polish participants are scheduled to arrive in the United States in May 1993 for a three-month placement culminating in a presentation by the Polish partici- pants at the Section's Annual Meeting in New York in early August. The Polish lawyers selected for the program will have a working knowledge of English. CEELI will fund the overseas travel ex- penses, administrative costs, and other related costs associated with the pro- gram. It is anticipated that the host Amer- ican firms will share in the overall costs by assigning a lawyer-mentor to work closely with the Polish lawyer, and by providing some financial assistance in defraying the cost of living expenses. E A wide variety of programs on issues of importance to Section members will be presented including: Legal Developments in Russia; Privatization in Central Eu- rope: Policy Choices and Practical Ap. proaches; Opening New Markets for Air Carriers; Transnational Bankruptcies: Co- operation and Conflict Between Nations; The New Agenda in International Envi- ronmental Law; Presenting Evidence to International Tribunals; Transfer Pricing: How the Internal Revenue Code's Re- lated Party Provisions Impact U.S. Im- porters; The EC's New Joint Venture Guidelines: Policy and Practice; Greater China: Contradictions of Converging Economies; and Doing Business in Latin America: New Landscapes in Adminis- trative Law. With the new Administration now in place, this year's program should prove to be exceptionally interesting and rele- vant to all of our Section members.
