1989 FALL MEETING IN LOS ANGELES
Japan, Arms Reductions, and
Taking Evidence Abroad

O      i November 2-3, 1989 the Sec-
tioti sponsored an allbitious
colbination of traditional LIusi-
iess meetings and social events with the
presentation of an A1BA Natio)nal Institute
entitled Japan-tlnited States Trade and
Investment: Strategies for the 1990S.
The planning committee for this inno-
vative offering included Gerold W l,ibb);
Whitnian & Ransotil, Los Angeles; Mayre
J. Raslussen, Coudert Brothers, San
Francisco; and Roger W Rosendahl, Do-
Inovan, Leisure, Newton & Irvine, Los
Angeles.
This National Institute, which was also
offered in New York City November 30-
December 1, brought into focus for the
participants challenges and strategies it
conducting trade and investment with
Japanese businesses. The first day pre-
sented a thorough discussion of tle legal
and practical aspects for trade and invest-

trade laws relating to Japanese LIusi-
nesses, labor laws and immigration, and
