At the latest meeting of the Editorial Board of the
International Journal of Legal Medicine, Prof. Walter Bar
MD, former Director of the Institute of Legal Medicine at
the University of Zurich, and Prof. Wolfgang Eisenmenger
MD, former Head of the Institute of Legal Medicine at the
University of Munich, announced their wish to resign from
their positions as editors of the International Journal of
Legal Medicine. Prof. Walter Bar has occupied the post of
editor ever since the German-language Zeitschrift fur
Rechtsmedizin was relaunched as the International Journal
of Legal Medicine in 1990. Prof. Wolfgang Eisenmenger
has been a consultant for the journal since 1990 and a
member of the Editorial Board since 1999. Within the
scope of their work for the International Journal of Legal
Medicine over a period of more than 20 years, Prof. Walter
Bar and Prof. Wolfgang Eisenmenger have made a major
contribution to promoting the forensic sciences and
developing the journal into the leading international journal
in the field of legal medicine-in addition to the high-
calibre scientific papers they themselves produced. On
behalf of the members of the Editorial and Advisory Boards
of the International Journal of Legal Medicine, but also on

behalf of all the members of the forensic science commu-
nity, we would like to thank Prof. Walter Bar and Prof.
Wolfgang Eisenmenger for all their work.
Furthermore, we would like to thank Prof. Szibor and
Prof. Herrmann, who are leaving the Advisory board.
We wish our departing colleagues much health and
energy for the future, so that they will be able to
continue contributing to the advance of the forensic
sciences.
With regards to future perspectives and developments,
we are very glad to welcome new members of both the
Editorial and the Advisory Boards of the journal: Prof.
Ubelacker and Prof. Schmeling, two outstanding and
internationally recognized scientists with special expertise
in forensic anthropology, and Prof. Skopp, a well-known
specialist in forensic toxicology, will strengthen the
Editorial board, while Profs. Fracasso, Ishikawa, Inoue,
Kayser, Lessig, and Poetsch have been appointed as new
members of the Advisory Board. We are sure that the new
members of the Boards are fully prepared to actively
contribute to the journals further development in the interest
of the forensic science community.
