Comment on the papers is unnecessary because I am sure the membership will have read them as they ap- peared in Public Utilities Fortnightly. Reprints will be mailed to the member- ship in the near future. The lively discussions which followed most of the speeches are an indication of the great interest of those present. No other organization - lawyers or nonlawyers - offers quite the opportunity for an exchange of views in such a broad cross section of the public utility industry. The list of your officers and committee chairmen for the coming year, which is con- tained in this issue of the Newsletter, is an indication of this broad interest. We will endeavor to see that the organization is utilized to the greatest extent pos- sible to bring about an awareness of each other's problems, and in those areas in which we have a common interest to see that such interest is made known and giv- en the recognition which it should command. The chairmen of the various committees are busy forming the membership of their committees. While we do not want such committees to become so large as to be unwieldy, we do want to encourage all of the Section membership to participate in the activities of the Section and to write to the officers or the committee chairmen indicating their particular interest. One area of great interest to the Section membership has been that of administra- tive procedural changes. We all want regulation to work and work well. Many of our members have already made outstanding contributions to the improvement of the administrative process. As members of the President's Administrative Con- ference, others are currently contributing valuable ideas to that end. We would urge the Section membership to follow the progress of this conference and to con- tribute their own ideas to the various conference committees which have been set up. The Section's Administrative Law Committee, headed by the able former general counsel of the Federal Power Commission, Willard W. Gatchell, and in- cluding in its membership some members of the Administrative Conference and other outstanding experts in this field, will undoubtedly make its voice felt but the broader the base of participation by Section members, the more apt we are to come out of the conference with workable ideas for the betterment of agency organ- ization and process. We have found in the past that most of our membership have overlapping interests with the activities of other sections of the Amnerican Bar Association. With this in mind we have attempted to have occasional contact at the annual meeting with such sections as Corporation, Banking and Business Law, Mineral and Natural Resources Law, Antitrust Law, Administrative Law, etc. We shall continue to follow this practice and attempt to keep ourselves informed of the activities of other sections through our Liaison Committee.
