Editorial

I am indebted to the Editorial Board of the International Migra-
tion Review for the invitation to prepare this special issue dealing
with- immigration and ethnic groups in Canada. The articles published
in this issue are the first of a series arising out of the researches
currently being conducted under the auspices of the Ethnic Research
Programme of the Institute for Behavioural Research, York Univer-
sity, Toronto. On behalf of the contributors, I would like to express
our appreciation for financial support, that has made these investiga-
tions possible, to the Canada Council, the Central Mortgage and
Housing Corporation, the Citizenship Branch of the Ontario Provincial
Department of the .Secretary of State and Citizenship, Denison Mines
Ltd and York University.
Of course, York University is not alone in the conduct of research
concerning immigration and ethnic group relations in Canada. Many
social scientists in other universities and in government agencies have
undertaken research on these questions. For this reason, a select
bibliography is included in this issue in order to assist those readers
who would like to obtain further information.
