handle is hein.journals/ialibbul1 and id is 1 raw text is: INTHRNATIONAL ASSOCIATION Op LAW LIBRARIES
BULLETIN
Editor: Dr. B. LANDHEER
Volume 1, No. I Palace of Peace, The Hague September 1960
BULLETIN REPRESENTS A SIGNIFICANT STEP FORWARD
This first number of the Bulletin commences what I believe will be
an increasingly valuable feature of the service which the Association
expects to develop in the near future. The Bulletin will not only make
it possible to communicate regularly with our members concerning the
work of the Association, but it will permit the dissemination of a good
deal of additional information which should be of interest to our mem-
bers and might not otherwise be brought to their attention. In addition,
the Bulletin will provide an outlet for significant contributions by our
members and other persons dealing with subjects and problems in which
many of us will have an interest.
We are fortunate to have Dr. Landheer as our first editor. It is
indeed gratifying that this part of our program is in such competent
hands.

K. HOWARD DRAKE OUTLINES PROGRAM OF ACTIVITIES
FOR THE ASSOCIATION
Note: The following stimulating and constructive statement was
made by Mr. K. Howard Drake, Secretary and Librarian of the Institute of
Advanced Legal Studies, University of London, at the meeting held in New
York City on June 24, 1959, when the International Association of Law
Libraries was organized.
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
The first thing I would like to say as a visitor to this country is
to let you know how pleasant it is to be in the United States again after
a too long interval of five years. It is a friendly and encouraging ex-
perience to be attending this auspicious meeting during what will, I am
sure, be an outstandingly successful Convention of the American Associa-
tion of Law Libraries.
During this five years' absence from the United States, however, I
have had the pleasant opportunity of welcoming an increasing number of
law librarians on my home ground in London.
