Griswold by naming its faculty office building after the former dean. Griswold served as Law School dean from 1946 to 1967, longer than any other except Christopher Columbus Langdell. Appointed in 1967 by President Johnson to the post of solicitor general, he held that post until 1973, longer than anyone else this century.
