Louis Loss, the Securities Regu- lation professor, and Assistant Dean Stephen M. Bernardi, secre- tary to the Administrative Board, indicated early this week that they doubt the truth of reports made to Bernardi that one or more students left the examination room to read an opinion cited as the source of the exam before answering Loss's The questions. On Tuesday the Administra. tive Board released a statement indicating that it will not issue pass/fail grades or take other action designed to neutralize any advantage students might have gained by cheating unless the reports of cheating can be confirmed. The Board's position means that students have until Feb. 22, the deadline for submission of fall semester grades by professors, to provide the Board with the infor- mation required to substantiate cheating charges. So far, no student who witnessed cheating has talked with Bernardi. U.S. District Judge Lee P. Gag- liardi, in denying the motion to dismiss January 12, noted that the plaintiff John A. Lucido had stated a cause of action against his former employer and rejected Cravath's arguments that law partnerships are not covered by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
